Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
The Fair Standards Labor Act (FLSA) establishes minimum wage, overtime pay, record keeping, and child labor standards for all workers. Almost since its inception in 1938, employers have struggled to understand and comply with the more demanding aspects of the law and, in particular, the section governing exemption from overtime pay. Over the past few years, employers have conducted lengthy and costly audits to ensure that their employees are properly classified with existing documentation to support the classification decision.
McKnight’s “eFLSA” Tool
McKnight developed an electronic tool “eFLSA” to determine the exemption status of a position, patterned directly from the U.S. Department of Labor’s FLSA Exemption Standards. The program addresses the complexity of determining exemption status with a low cost, high quality solution. Our tool collects job descriptive information about specific position responsibilities and documents a determination for each position within the organization. The process is quick to execute.
